Deal Research & Verification

A deal page is where structured commercial information meets the shopper's decision. The design should make the discount visible, but it should also explain the product, eligibility and offer type. A large percentage alone is not enough because introductory promotions, annual plans, renewals and selected-product restrictions can materially change the real value of an offer. Every deal record should have a source, merchant, category, offer type, landing page, eligibility rules, start date, end date when available, verification state and affiliate destination. A production system can also store the date the source was last checked. The interface should never display a “verified” badge unless the underlying record actually supports that state. Deal cards should support several types: promo code, automatic discount, free trial, seasonal sale, bundle, new-customer offer, student offer and category-specific promotion. This makes filtering meaningful. A shopper looking for a coupon code should not have to sort through dozens of free-trial or sale pages. The deal page should also provide alternatives. If a shopper is looking at one hosting provider, the page can show comparable hosting brands. If the visitor is researching an education platform, the page can surface other education services. This is useful because a good deal is only valuable if the underlying product fits the user's need. Editorial deal research should explain how to compare offers. For example, compare the discount percentage, final checkout price, billing period, included products, renewal price, cancellation terms and eligibility. These fields can be presented in a compact comparison table while the article explains what each field means. The affiliate CTA should be clear and honest. “Get Deal” or “Reveal Coupon” should take the user to the intended merchant destination, and affiliate relationships should be disclosed. Google guidance recommends qualifying affiliate links with sponsored and/or nofollow attributes. A mature deal system can also support automated expiry workflows. If the source API marks an offer inactive, the database can move it to an expired state. The expired page can remain useful by showing the offer history, related active brands and a link back to the category. This is better than creating a broken page or falsely keeping an expired coupon live. The most valuable deal pages are therefore not the ones with the most cards. They are the pages where the shopper can quickly understand what is available, why an offer may be useful, what conditions apply and what alternatives exist. That is the standard this interface is designed to support.
